01/07/2010 12:00:00

The Rotary Club of Bargoed’s President for the forthcoming year is Ted Jones.

Ted is originally from Markham and has lived in the Blackwood area for 62 years. 30 years ago he and his wife Barbara set up the The Cottage Loaf Bakery which became a family business with shops at Cefn Fforest and Fleur de Lis.

A past President of Bargoed Chamber of Trade and a keen golfer who is a member of Bargoed Golf Club, Ted has been involved with the Rotary organisation for 10 years. His other interests revolve around his family.

At his installation which took place at the Maes Manor Hotel Blackwood, Ted acknowledged the success and achievements of outgoing President David Price. During the year a large number of varied events took place and incoming President Ted was confident in getting the support of his fellow Rotarians in achieving his programme for the coming year. His nominated charities are Cancer Research Wales http://www.crw.org.uk/ and the British Heart Foundation http://www.bhf.org.uk/about-us/bhf-around-britain/wales-cymru.aspx

Officials from neighbouring Clubs joined fellow Rotarians and their partners for Ted’s installation.

Badges of office were presented to David Price – Immediate Past President, Craig Walters – President Elect, Malcolm Tucker - Vice President, Hugh Thomas - Secretary and Duncan McIntosh – Treasurer.

The Rotary Club of Bargoed meets at 6:30pm on Wednesday's weekly at the Maes Manor Hotel Blackwood. Further details of the activities of the Rotary Club of Bargoed can be obtained from the Secretary: Hugh Thomas 01443 814161info@tsedwards.co.uk
