St John Cymru Wales are offering people who are over 50 and not in work the opportunity to learn valuable, transferrable skills free of charge.
We are offering first aid training, empowering you to be the difference between a life lost and a life saved. Enjoy the peace of mind and confidence that comes with knowing that you know what to do in an emergency. The course will be four hours long and will provide training for:
· How to manage an incident;
· Resuscitation;
· Treating an unconscious casualty;
· Severe bleeding;
· Choking;
· Heart attacks and
· Shock
Our experience of working in the community has led us to the conclusion that we could help tackle the issue of social exclusion within Wales. To this end, we are offering basic ICT training, providing participants with the skill and confidence to feel included in an increasingly online world. The sessions will be informal and suitable for complete beginners. They will be participant led enabling you to learn what you most want to learn – email, social networking, shopping – you choose.
You can choose both sets of training, or just the one that interests you the most. Following the training, we will help you consider and investigate the next step on your journey.
To qualify for the free training you need to be:
· Over 50 years old but of working age;
· Not working or working for less than 16 hours per week;
· Not in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance;
· Resident in Caerphilly County;
· Not engaged in Work Programme or Work Choice.
