Bargoed Chamber of Trade has a New President

The latest news from the Chamber of Trade
At the recent Annual General Meeting of the Bargoed Chamber of Trade Sean Murray was elected President.
Sean is a Director in the family business that owns Cleopatra's Night Club, the Plasnewydd and the Darran public houses, and has been an active member of the Chamber for many years.
The Chamber of Trade was founded pre 1902 and Sean follows a family tradition where his late father Keith held the Presidency in 1994 & 2006. Sean is well known in the Bargoed community through his membership of the Rotary Club of Bargoed where as Chairman of the Foundation Committee Sean like his father raises large amounts of money for Rotary International’s charity work overseas, his involvement in the activities of the Greater Bargoed Partnership and other activities in the local community including his membership of the Bargoed Licensed Victuallers Association.
Brian Jarrett of Brian Jarrett Photographic was appointed Vice President. Dave Collins of Fooks and Co, Peter Collins of B Thomas Pet Shop and Ivan Hill of Community Connect (Wales) Ltd remain as Secretary, Treasurer and Press Officer respectively.
Sean takes the Presidency when hopefully there’ll be a positive announcement regarding the retail development and the continuing works on the regeneration of the town centre will not be as disruptive as previously. Without a doubt the last few years have been particularly trying for anyone trying to do business in Bargoed and the residents wanting to support Bargoed businesses.
Bargoed Chamber of Trade is fully committed to ensuring that Bargoed and the surrounding community fully benefits from the regeneration opportunities that the regeneration scheme will bring.
