Aberbargoed Lantern Parade
Aberbargoed Lantern Parade
17/12/2009 12:00:00
Residents of Aberbargoed turned out in force to support this year's Lantern Parade.
Despite the wind and rain a great number of families took part in the Parade, led by Cefn Fforest Jazz Band, which started at Aberbargoed Primary School and finished at St Peters Church. Here the parade was met by the Bishop of Monmouth and the Mayor of Bargoed Cllr. Dianne Price and the Christmas Lights were switched on.
Due to the weather, everyone was moved inside where they were treated to carols sung by Aberbargoed Youth Choir and a showing of 'A Muppets Christmas Carol'. To combat the cold, everyone in the Church was treated to hot chocolate, soup and bread rolls. To the delight of all the children, Father Christmas paid a visit and gave the children sweets and took some last minute present orders!
The evening was a huge success so we would like to pass on a big thankyou to everyone who took part, despite the weather!
